The Environmental Management Commission (EMC) is a 19-member Commission appointed
by the Governor, the Senate Pro Tempore and the Speaker of the House. The Commission
is responsible for adopting rules for the protection, preservation and enhancement
of the State's air and water resources. The EMC oversees and adopts rules for several
divisions of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, including the
Divisions of Air Quality, Land Resources, Water Quality, and Water Resources.
The Water Allocation Committee is one of six standing EMC committees.

The Water Allocation Committee meets on the Wednesday before the full Commission meeting.
Public notices are sent out via email before each meeting to provide the agenda and
confirm the meeting time and place. The meetings are open to the public
and broadcast as a webinar at https://denr.ncgovconnect.com/wac/
for those who are unable to attend in-person.
