Water Loss Reduction and Leak Detection

Water losses, whether from leaks, faulty meters, unmetered connections, or other causes, can be a serious financial and operational problem for water supply utilities. Leak detection efforts can significantly reduce waste and conserve our water.

If the 'unaccounted for' difference between the amount of water produced and the amount of water sold is more than 15% then your system deserves further examination with a detailed water audit.

  • Do you know if your system is losing water?
  • If so, how much water?
  • Are your costs increasing?

The answer to these and other questions about your water system's operations can be answered by you, and the Division of Water Resources is available to help you get these answers.
