When the City of Burlington completed the construction of a new reservoir, Lake Cammack in 1961, they expended the extra effort to construct twenty-six ponds within the drainage basin that were designed to trap sediment before it entered the water supply. The City initially agreed to maintain the ponds for twenty years after completion, however, over thirty years have now passed and the City of Burlington still handles maintenance of the ponds.
